Are you guys getting tired of my 870 threads yet? :neener:

So my cousin can get me a Remington Refurbished 870P with the 5 shot mag, 18" barrel, and ghost ring sights for around $300. In the end I pretty much want my gun to be exactly like the 870 Max but I want the 9v surefire instead of the 6v. I want the pistol grip speedfeed stock, wilson sights, and mag extension.

I've been having a hell of a time finding the price on the Max's. Do you guys think it'd be cheaper to build my own off a $300 870P or just purchase a Max, sell the forend, and buy the forend I want? $300 for a 870P seems like a good deal but it's still going to be expensive building this gun the way I want it.

For $300 for the base gun I would build my own. Figure another $300 bucks for the Surefire and $50 bucks for the PG full stock and you are still under the the price of the Pmax's I have seen locally.

One advantage of doing it yourself is, you don't have to come up with the money in one lump.
You can buy the gun, then buy and install the accessories when you want.

Then too, it's not unusual to get a gun, then find out you like something as is, so you can save more if you don't pay for something you figure out you don't want.

Another advantage is, a refurbed 870P will have been about as de-bugged as you can get.

After being inspected by an armorer when new, periodically inspected, then refurbed and inspected, you should have no problems.

So far the cheapest price I've seen for the max is $715 not including freight. So say the gun is $300, forend is $285, $50 stock, then I have to purchase the mag extension, and the new sights, and the buttpad. I believe the sights alone are over $100 so I think the pre-assembled gun might be the best bet for me, plus it'd be new.

Maybe I am missing something here, but 300$ for an 870 in like new condition with ghostring sights sounds like a heck of a deal.

Of course 870s don't exactly grow on trees here in New Mexico, but when I was looking for one I would have jumped all over a deal like that.

:)

I actually just checked my bank account and sorta thought about the 870P for $300 deal, and you're right, I can't pass it up. Actually I think I'm going to buy two if I can get the discount on both of them. I should be able to sell them for at least that, should I want to.

Well I was going to, but I don't think it's what I want now. I'm thinking I'd like a laser on the shotgun, so I'd like to go with the surefire rail system with a light on one side and a laser on the other. And like someone mentioned above, I won't have to spend all the money at once.

I'd reccomend buying the $300 gun, it is a good deal. The Max is much more expensive.

I have a SpeedFeed IV stock (the one that comes on the Max that I'll sell to you for $60 shipped. PM me if you are interested. It is brand new, it just did not fit my hand so I put my wood stocks back on my 870P.

Man $300 is a great deal for an 870P with ghost rings, make sure he is not trying to sell you the express model, they aren't anywhere near the quality of a Police model.
