I would like to take a surplus 8x57 Mauser and give it a new stock.
What are the best replacement stocks in wood which look like the original or plastics like the Advanced Tech stocks which change the appearance totally.

Who makes them and where to get?

Repl. Mauser Stocks--Boyd's

+1 on Boyd's stocks! I put a Boyd's on a Yugo M-48 Mauser. Looks great, the fit was XLNT, no problems, the Boyd's people were patient and helpful with my questions.

Be sure you order the correct stock for YOUR Mauser--k98's, M-48's, Swedes, and Turks, all take different stocks, for example.

Mauser's vary greatly from each other depending on the country of origin and time period. Early Mausers will have long barrels and straight bolts, later models are carbine length, with curved bolts. The receivers and actions also differ depending on the model and country. Like the above poster said, make sure you get the correct stock the fit the your make and model Mauser. Example a Yugo M48 barrled action will not fit into a stock made for aGerman K98k, or Cezch 98.
