hey guys. I got in late on the Mauser bug... years, decades, who knows!

where is the best place to get stripper clips for my Turk (38) and my Yugo 24/47? they look like they use the same clip, no?

also, I would like to find a new or near new barrel for the Turk. I cant seem to find a small ring barrel in 8MM... I looked around for the perfect cartridge, and realized it was the 8x57 all along. is there a stock of new military barrels somewhere? after cutting and crowning the long (29"?) military barrel to 24", the contour is just right.

thanks in advance for your help!

You might have a tough time finding a replacement barrel for the turk, though they probably show up on Ebay or gunbroker once in awhile. FWIW, a common rebarreling project for the M38 Turks is to install a swede barrel- it has the same barrel threads and the rifle will be converted to 6.5x55.

Stripper clips- not sure. I got a lot fo them when turk surplus ammo was available up to about 5 years ago. The 1-piece clips which most of the ammo came on aren't much good, but I lucked out and got a 1/2 dozen or so 3-piece clips from the dozens of bandoliers of ammo I've shot.

I use the strippers on Yugo, Wolf, Ecuadorian, and Russian surplus I have, worked in both my M48 and my K-98. How many are you looking for? I have a bunch laying around and I'll see if I can't scrape a few together for you if you want'em

thats fantastic! thank for the offer. I could use a dozen or two, if you can spare them.

as for a new barrel, I really want to stay chambered in 8x57... I suppose I would change my mind if I have to buy a blank, or a threaded barrel that I would have to turn and rethread. (I have taught University level manufacturing, but need to find shop access in this new city.)

what does the availability of small ring barrels look like these days? I have seen them in 6.5x55, 7x57, and .243? from sporterexpress.com...

other sources?

thanks for the help guys!
