I've kind of lost track of who makes what now-a-days. Does anyone still sell an "original" 1892 lever carbine, no safety buttons, etc? I once had a Rossi .357 with no safety and I've now got a case colored Hartford .45 still NIB that I bought a few years ago with no safety. I'd like to have the identical gun in .38/.357, a little more practical caliber for my needs. What little info I've found says the Hartford's now all have a safety. Someone told me Cimarron might make one but that they are very expensive. Can't tell by looking at the photos. Thanks.

Both of my Puma/Rossi guns came with the safety switch on the bolt. I took it off on the Short Rifle and used one of those plugs from StevesGunz. Just need to color in the S + F markings.

Once had a pre-safety Rossi ‘92 in .357/.38. Why, oh, why did I sell it? Such a beautiful rifle. It’s a shame Rossi chose to ruin the new ones with that god awful safety. Like someone said on the Revolver forum regarding the S&W safety pimple, “… it’s ugly, and I don’t buy ugly.”
