92FS or PX4

I was looking at both yesterday and I liked them both. Looking for experiences with these.

I have been very happy with the px4. Shoot-ability is really solid and it is reliable. I like the 92 but it's a much bigger gun. I think it comes down to how you will use it.

I think the px4 handles better for someone with smaller/weaker hands, IMO. But either would work.

No experience with the PX4, but I do have a 92FS. It is one of the easiest racking guns I have as well as soft shooting. Something to consider for women. If your wife can handle the grip, then it may be a good choice for her, and you as an HD pistol. They are very reliable, proven, and accurate guns.

That being said, the PX4 seems like a winner also, and the rotating barrel action intrigues me. Try to shoot both if you can but I don't think you can go wrong.

The main differences between the two are fit to your hand and recoil characteristics

The PX4 has the advantage of changeable backstraps to fit different size hands, while the 92 family either fits your hand or it doesn't.

The 92 family has very linear recoil as the barrel doesn't drop to unlock from the slide as the Browning tilt barrel action does. The PX4's rotating barrel adds a odd twist in the hand as it recoils...I found it a bit harder to shoot quickly

I have both, a 92FS Inox and fullsize 9mm PX4 Stainless. My wife has small hands and has no problem shooting the 92FS, but doesn't like the way the PX4 fits her hand. I find the grip on the PX4 to be a little slick and since the wife doesn't shoot it I put a Hogue Handall slip on grip on it. Both guns are very accurate, slides are very easy to rack, soft shooting, but I like the larger 3 dot sights on the PX4 better than the ones on the 92FS. Have your wife try the fit of both guns. For my situation, for home defense, I'd choose the 92FS.

The PX4 is a much better fit for my smaller hand than the Model 92FS. I haven't really noticed any difference in recoil between the two different barrel operating systems used in either gun.

Got both guns. Both are great and my PX4 has the inox finish which looks awesome. Both are very accurate.

I have a px4 .40 full size. My buddy and I go to the range, and I feel less recoil with my gun than with his full sized S&W m&p 9mm full sized. My gun shoots as accurate as I can make it..... Which isn't great right now...

I tried both at the range and I am going with the 92. Both were very good but the 92 to us just seems easier to shoot. Using the human shaped target at 10 yards we both nailed it with every round. The Px4 i missed the shape ( i still hit the paper) at least 10% or more. For us the winner is the 92.

My PX4 has been more reliable than my 92. My 92 had a horrible break in period, then settled down somewhat, still isn't 100%. Not so the PX4, never had a problem.

I've never had a malfunction in either of my 92FS's. They are stone cold reliable, and accurate. You will not be disappointed.
