9mm 122gr lfp oal

I have a lyman 49th book the closest I can come to my weight in this book is 120gr with a oal of 1.065 if I seat my lead bullet just past the lube ring my oal is 1.075 I am new to reloading so I'm wanting some feedback so that I can keep my fingers. Thanks billy

Plunk Test

Use the barrel of your weapon as a check of your length.Also check that your load fits and feeds from your magazine.

Did the plunk. It flushes the same a factory round and I'm shorter than factory round

For semi-auto pistols, using the OAL listed on load data won't ensure it will work with your pistol as often test barrel fixtures and not actual pistols are used to measure chamber pressures.

Also, there are differences from pistol to pistol based on brands/models so OAL that works in one pistol may not work in another pistol.

I load 125gr TCFP to 1.040" OAL. You're fine.

The barrel-to-bullet fit determines the longest OAL you can use.

The load recipe is really the shortest OAL you should use.

Generally, you are open to choose any OAL between those 2 limits. The manual is not "recommending" anything, they are only "reporting" what worked safely for them. It's up to the reloader to figure out to configure that data around the bullet, powder, and barrel you're working with. WE can suggest, but only YOU can make that final determination.
