9mm 92FS

I recently purchased a 9mm 92FS and would like to know what ammo to buy for it. I found some luger 9mm, but I don't think that it's right for the Berretta. Can anyone help me.?? Thanks in advance. New to this board.

Go to your local Wal Mart and buy a whole crap ton of that $9-a-box Blazer Brass 50 count boxes of ammo...You'll have a blast at the range...Good choice in the gun too, that is one hell of a gun...

9mm luger is the more "formal" name, almost always when people say 9mm they are talking about 9mm luger

the NATO designation for the round you should buy is 9x19mm

the formal name is the 9mm Parabellum (latin: for war)

9mm Luger is a slang name used in America because the 9x19mm was first intorduced to americans when the Luger pistol was introduced on this side of the pond

what you want to avoid is the 9x17mm...the .380 ACP or 9mm kurtz (short)...or the 9mm Largo

Congrats on your new pistol.

The 92 will feed any 9mm you give it, even my crappy reloads.

Just like if I buy .22lr ammo my semi's don't like, I use them in my revolver.
If I have any 9mm ammo my other pistols don't like, my 92 will eat them just fine.

You want to look for 9x19, Luger, Parabellum, 9mm - all the same stuff. There are, however, many makers and many types of 9mm ammo. For the range, you'll want "TARGET" ammo as it is MUCH LESS expensive than PERSONAL DEFENSE ammo that can be very expensive. The TARGET ammo is normally "FMJ" or Full Metal Jacket, whereas the personal defense ammo is normally "JHP" or Jacketed Hollow Point. All this 9mm ammo also comes in different weights - at this point I wouldn't worry about that. Just try and find the cheapest TARGET 9mm ammo you can find - the Beretta is well known for digesting any ammo you put in it.

it has been my experience that the best combination of price, reliability and clean burning is CCI Blaser...either aluminum or brass

9mm was originally designed with a 124gr bullet. the most common weights you'll find seems to be 115gr and 147gr

The original question has already been answered so I will throw in my .02 on the gun.

The Beretta 92 series is about as good as they get. It is my favorite service size 9mm. I have way more rounds through my G17 but I much prefer the feel and heft of the Beretta.

The quality/fit and finish (small parts) of the current 92FS has no equal under $1K IMO. Very high quality and well made through and through.

i've found the Beretta to be the model of reliability

1. it has the largest ejection port in the industry
2. although the barrel moves with the slide (not fixed) it remains in-line for feeding
3. it is the easiest pistol to convert to blank firing...as least that's what i'm told by a gunhandler in the movie industry
