Sweet! Sounds awesome! Although many people here will disagree with your stance in Part (b) regarding SD/HD. 9mm is quite potent and a cost effective round for plinking.

I've been looking at these lately as well. the dedicated lowers make no sense to me. For the same price, you can get a standard lower and a magwell conversion block. Leaves more options open in the future.

To each there own, I REALLY like the way that lower looks ;) Plus I dont plan to change uppers, this is until I turn 21 and can register it as a SBR and get the barrel hacked down to 10.5"

I am thinking of a SBR for HD. I am debating between 9mm and 300blk. I see benefits of both. I would prefer the flexability of a milspec lower, but the DD lowers do look very nice when SBR'd.

Now you say you won't changer uppers, but when you see how many cool uppers are available, you might wisht you had went with a milspec lower.

What kind of stock are you wanting; ace skeleton entry, CTR, etc, etc?

I was leaning towards Vltor buffer tube with Wolff x-tra power buffer spring, Spikes ST-T2 with there 9mm spacer and Magpul mil-spec MOE stock. And the only reason I said I wont change uppers is it will probly be a while before I can afford another one anyway.

A friend owns a Class 3 that was registered as a Full Auto 9mm lower, but he can convert it to a .223 upper with minimal work. It's a Colt, so all he really has to do is take off the upper, and remove the pin for the lower that was machined by Colt for the 9mm mags.

I like his approach.

He's not completely dedicated to one or the other.

And what did I do?

I bought myself a dedicated .22 rimfire S&W M&P. I'm not concerned it's dedicated to only .22 rimfire. But I would be intrigued in an AR I could swap b/n 9mm and readily adapt to a conventional centerfire caliber.

I get that it is easy to convert between .223/5.56mm and 9mm with a mil-spec lower, but I want this to be a dedicated 9mm build, might as well go all out. ;)

You may or may not be able to use yours for home defense since they can be finicky with the JHP bullets and OAL. Corbon powerball or similar could be an answer.

Also, I would only depend on Colt mags for defense. Converted Uzi mags can be finicky and Pro Mags are fine for the range, but mag swelling and non reinforced plastic feed lips can be of some concern.

OP, in your link to the lower you were looking at I couldn't find what type of mags it accepts.

You could also look at Lone Wolf Distributors, however I thought they were a little high priced. They do accept glock mags though, which is the route I would go.

I have a RRA 9mm carbine. Takes modified Uzi mags which work great. Cheap to shoot and so far perfectly reliable.

It is a fun gun. I put an Eotech on it and there is no recoil so the wife really likes it... her favorite actually.

I have a RRA 9MM AR as well. It runs very well with the modified UZI mags as well as the C-Products mags I bought for it. It can be finicky with some JHP styles, but there are JHP designs that run great.

Since it uses a standard lower with a mag block, if I wanted to I could install a .223 etc upper, but I have never done so.

Lots of fun. Every one who shoots it loves it.

Decided to buy a CMMG MK9 instead of building my own.
That's probably a good idea, since 9MM ARs are not quite as simple as .223. Not complicated, but there are some little idiosyncrasies to them. CMMG has a good reputation.

DDLES makes good stuff. I have one of their Glock Mag lowers and it's head and shoulders above the "competition."

It's a lot of fun!

The Thureon comes in 10mm (which Olympic has) and .357SIG!!. That would be so cool.

Back on topic, get Shotgun News and see all the 9mm options advertised. It's a very tempting caliber.

Putting a Windham Weapinry HBAR on layaway for Xmas as a gift to myself :D
Realized I wanted a real rifle and not a long pistol with a stock ;) Jk

Not the best pic but here is my Oly KG9-GL takes Glock mags so it goes well when I carry the G17/19.

If you want a dedicated 9mm AR, why not just get a Just Right carbine?

I will eventually branch out into a 9mm upper, but I'm thinking of getting an integrally suppressed barrel for it, and that's gonna take time to save up for. Still, it'll get mounted to a standard AR lower. It'll be one that gets swapped out with a .22 upper.
