Sounds like a good plan rather than turning your own barrel. The 9mm is the easiest AR barrel for a DIY job but why bother when quality warranted set-ups are about.

What mags does the CMMG take?

I'm in the same boat. I have a 9mm and .45ACP Marlin Camp Carbines that I love to shoot, I just end up treating them like collector items because I don't want to ding the wood and such. So I'm looking for a psitol cal. carbine. Obviously 9mm is the cheapest, but it's amazing what a 10mm or .357Sig can do through a 16" barrel. Oh did I mention I have .357Mag and .44Mag lever actions? :D

As I stated in your other thread there are 3 or 4 AR companies selling 9mm set-ups, packages, kits, parts, etc. in Shotgun News. Might open your options further, I know it does for me.

Putting a Windham Weapinry HBAR on layaway for Xmas as a gift to myself :D
Realized I wanted a real rifle and not a long pistol with a stock ;)
