Now that Makarov is no longer offering them, anybody have the line on 9mm barrels for the CZ 52? (7.62X25 Tokarev) I've looked on eBay without any luck. Also, does anybody have any experience with this conversion? I know the stock Tok mags fit 9mm rounds, but I've read they can have feeding issues with the 9mm. Any input is greatly appreciated!

My dad had two CZ-52's. One was all original, the other a blued rebuild which he converted to 9mm. The 9 worked fine for him, but he never shot hollow points out of it so I don't know how it might have fared with those.

Not sure about the CZ 52 barrels, but the Tokarev barrels are out there, you just have to look under every rock. They go for way too high of a price on Gunbroker, but if you don't mind shelling out the cash there usually are one or two on there.

For the magazines, I've heard that converted CZ 52 magazines work the best, but my regular Yugo M57 magazines seem to feed ball 9mm without much trouble.

Last Navy Arms Chinese TT 9x19 I looked at had $239 tag on it. I would just buy 9x19 pistol instead. You will not be able to find 9x19 barrel for CZ52 because there aren't enough of them around and manufacturers make products to sell them to make money. Large gun show would probably be your best bet.

I got one from Makarov.com before they went out of business.

No problems at all. Simply swap barrels.
9mm is actually more accurate than the original CZ52 barrel.

There was one on Ebay over the weekend. I believe it sold for $199 for the barrel, rollers, cam and recoil spring. :banghead:

I found my conversion barrel after scanning Gunbroker for a month or two. Cost me 200$ (cost of the pistol), haven't had the chance to shoot it yet (I hate moving ) but I'll post if it grenades in my hand (as some folks will assert they are dangerous conversions ). The gun is already an ongoing project (blue/polish job, new front/rear sights, homebrew ebony grips, so far) so I didn't mind sinking more money into the pit--I mean--labor of love ;)

I don't know why nobody's making the barrels, they're easy to make and there is definitely a market now (despite those who say the contrary) that the cheap tok surplus ammo has dried up, which is why 200$ for a barrel is a good deal if you intend to shoot the gun regularly going forward. There is a healthy (if small) market for component upgrades in the form of mags, extended floorplates, slide releases, and internals. Why not a Tok you ask? Well, some of us just don't care for the Tokarevs (a fine pistol in its own right). If the TT30 came in Art Deco I'd consider it

Obligatory pic (old, I actually have sights on it now :p and the grips are polished)

You just nailed why I LOVE the CZ-52. What cool lines. One of the sexiest guns ever, IMO.

It is a firecracker, though with the Tok round. Count me as one who would love a 9x19 barrel, even though I have a good supply of 7.62 laid in. My 9mm stash isn't corrosive.
