I was wondering if anyone uses the Armscor 124gr bullets from Wideners and other retailers. What load data would be best to use? Speer or Hornady 124gr FMJ data? Alliant data since I am using Power Pistol?

I've never used those bullets before, what kind of bullet is it, jacketed, plated, lead, other?

Which data you use, is going to depend on what type of load your wanting to develop. For instance, I load jacketed bullets, and I like Longshot, HS6, Blue Dot, and other slower burner's, cause I like full throttle loads. As far as data, as long as it comes from a published source, Hornady, Speer, Sierra, Nosler, Hodgdon, Lyman for example, it's considered as reliable published sources.

They are FMJ, so I was led to believe that each bullet manufacturer has a different jacket composition and that should be considered when working up a load.

Use any FMJ data for that particular weight of bullet. Start low and work up for your gun.

I'd think what Mad Chemist told you would be a safe bet, provided it's a run of the mill bullet with no goofy characteristics..whenever it's possible though, it's usually a good idea to try emailing the actual company that made the bullet.

Armscor FMJ are about as pedestrian as you can get:D Their factory ammo is very plain Jane FMJ. I suspect that these are pulled bullets that the OP is asking about.

Oh and good luck calling them. Unless you speak Tagalog;):what::neener:

124gr FMJ is a very common load. So what I would do is to look at several sources for data on Power Pistol and see the variances, then pick a middle of the road starting point.

Lyman 48th (worst of the books in my opinion)
125gr Hollow Point
5.1 to 5.7gr Power Pistol
1.075" OAL

Lee 2nd edition
125gr Jacketed
6.0 to 6.6gr Power Pistol
1.15" OAL

So in just the 2 books I have handy there is no overlap in the loads. In that case, I would hit the 'net and check a few other sources.

I think the bullet weight and composition (jacketed vs lead) will matter more than who makes the bullet.

Alliant's website shows 6.4gr for Speer Gold Dots. So if it were me, I would start around 5.4 and work up in 0.2gr increments and test it out.

They are conventional jacketed bullets with a brass jacket.

Use data for conventional jacketed bullet data from any reloading manual.
