I have an older Taurus PT99,And I was wondering if I could shoot +p's in it.Not as a regular thing but as a defense load.I really like the Cor-Bon +p's and was thinking of using them.Thanks..

Absolutely.

I have my PT99 loaded with G-A 115gr +P+ Gold Dots. It's certainly not meant for a steady diet, as these pistols were not designed for +P loads, however just about any quality firearm can withstand a limited number of +P rounds (at the cost of accelerated wear).

I've put a bit over 50 rounds of these loads through my PT99 to be absolutely sure the pistol like them. I don't plan to fire another. However, no ill effects... the PT99 isn't built so flimsy as to fall apart when the pressures increase. I have a friend that has put scary amounts of +P ammunition through his PT911, with no noticeable damage or excessive wear. Still not a sound practice, though.

Just remember, the price is accelerated wear, so only enough +Ps to function fire and you're good to go.

The expansion results with the G-A load (on the right) against aggressive playdough from the PT99

Yeah,I don't plan on shooting lots of them.Just a few to make sure they're accurate and then just keep them loaded w/ it for home defense..Thanks.
