Has anyone got a tried n true recipe for 9 mm using Berry's 124 gr fnhb with bullseye, and Winchester primers ?
I'm new to reloading and can't find info in this combination.

Directly from the Berry's Site:
Plated bullets occupy a position between cast bullets and jacketed bullets. They are soft lead, but have a hard outer shell on them. When loading plated bullets we have found best results using low- to mid-range jacketed data in the load manual. You must use data for a bullet that has the same weight and profile as the one you are loading. Do not exceed mid-range loads. Do not use magnum loads.
Here is the Alliant load Data Site:

I like 3.5g bullseye behind a 105g swc. Also like 3.5 behind a 115 and 125g bullet. 4.0 works as well but the 3.5's are milder. Of course this is what I like and ymmv.

The hollow base bullets can be loaded a little shorter for published speeds due to the hollow base added space in the case.
Think about that for a minute.

4.0-4.1 grs n320 will make a very nice light range/comp load.
Sure will.

The hollow base adds case capacity compared to a solid base seated to the same depth (Not OAL), so the velocity will be a hair less, all other things being equal. I have proven this to myself with 124 Gr HBRN's and 124 gr solids seated to the same depth. It is not a huge difference. Don't add a bunch more powder because of it. Maybe .1 Grs.

Thanks for the responses. I'll post a range report in a few weeks when I have some range time.

If you really want an impressive load, try 4.1Gr Bluedot, with just about anything 9mm. Solid, and accurate, i've used it for years with very good results.

I've been getting good results with 4.4 gr W231 under Berrys 124gr FPHB. But I have some of the 5.5 Unique (and other increments) loaded up to try out under Berry's 115 gr RNFB because I've heard good things about this load.

Alright you guys, now I will have to go buy some Unique and try it for myself.

I used it with my .357s but have never tried it in 9mm. I had quit using it in my .357 loads because of poor metering but have since found most of my problem was static in loading in an air conditioned room.

I'll have to try it again.

[strike]Unique, 4.7-4.9gr, @ 1.060" w/ Berry's 124gr FP.[/strike] Oops. Looking for BE data. Misread. Sorry. I can say 3.8-4.0gr of TG @ 1.060" w/ a Berry's 124gr FP runs well and is about the same burn rate as BE.

You have the bullseye already? You should be able to find a great load somewhere around 4 grains of powder. Start at about 3.2 and work up, and stop when you get one you like. I'm not sure what the max is, but you don't want a max load anyway.

I use a little more than 4 with a little heavier cast lead bullet, but that load's a screamer and not appropriate for plated bullets.

9mm Plinking Recipe (newbie)

All,

I have just completed setting up my first press, a Hornady LNL AP Ammo Plant, complete with case feeder and bullet feeder. Dies setup as follows:
Station 1- RCBS size and deprimer
Station 2- Hornady PTX Expander/powder drop
Station 3- Hornady Powder COP
Station 4- Hornady Bullet Feeder Die
Station 5- Hornady Seater Die

I am only interested in loading 9mm for now for plinking and training purposes. Below is the current recipe that I am looking at using. Can you all please take a look at it and tell me if you consider this a safe load or not. It will be fired out of a Glock 19.

Bullet: Rainer 115gr RN
Primer: Remington 1.5 Small Pistol
Powder: Titegroup 4.2 grains
Case: Remington
COAL: 1.100"

Thanks in advanced for all your thoughts and opinions.
