Hydro shok

I use 124 grain HYDRO SHOK in my Sub Compact XD and HYDRO SHOK +p+ in my full size guns.

My agency issued the +p+ HYDRO SHOK before we went to the .40 S&W and never had any problems with it.

In the XD Sub Compact, I prefer the lesser recoil, but can also shoot the +p+ if I want to.

Before the HYDRO SHOK, we used WINCHESTER +p+ 115 grain ammo. It also worked well.

wondering which ammo has the best record for expansion/penetration.

That would depend on who you asked. There is no magic bullet. You will most likely do well with any quality JHP. Try some 124-125 gr and also 147. the 147 has more of a push than the snap of lighter bullets whne it comes to recoil. Avoid +P and +P+.

Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P, or Winchester Ranger T 124 gr +P, both great rounds. These are what Massad Ayoob recomend most for the 9mm. Put some down the pipe and see what performs the best, then you will have the winner. smitty704
