115 JHPs in handloads for most of my shooting, usually Hornady Action Pistol or Zero. They give me much better accuracy than the FMJ or plated TMJs.

For factory ammo in carry guns it is usually either 124 +P Gold Dot or 127 Winchester Ranger +P+.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

I'm using 147s over either WW231 or HP38 (same powder) to mimic my carry loads @ 900FPS. Was using plain cast, but have recently switched to Hi-Tek coated.

I probably should have separated FMJ and Plated as I am thinking most who answered that are using plated.

It appears there are quite a few of us that load jacketed, be it FMJ's or JHP's, so I think there is some viable importance in acknowledging jacketed in this survey. Self defense or not, it's an honest to goodness viable purpose, there is no denying that, and it requires a lot of shooting with the same full pressure loads one would carry.

BTW, thanks for the sample MG's and Zero's you sent me EX. They make for some very good SD range practice loads, as they shoot very much the same as XTP's and Noslers from what I can tell.

I'm working up loads for steel challenge:
His: 147gr Bayou, 3.7gr WSF @1.15" (SC and IDPA)
Hers: 124gr Bayou, 4.2gr WSF
Deciding between 124gr RN and 124gr TCG. Will probably be switching the 124gr to W231 (16 lbs on the way(

I like MBCs 125gr Cones and SWCs. Both coated and no coated. Shot a bunch before they offered coated with no leading issues, but prefer the coated. (just a bit) Some of my 9s prefer the cones, some the SWCs. THe SWCs cut nice clean holes if you are punching paper.
MBC offers 5% discount to THR members.
Great people to do business with.
I also like the RMR "thick plate" RN. Have not tried there cones yet. Plan on ordering some soon.
They also off THR members a 5% discount.
They are also good people.

The codes are on the site here but PM me if you need them ir you are interested in either of the 2.

124 xtreme 4.1 hp38 / TG or 5.2 unique 1.145 oal works really good on all my 9s

Yep, 124 grain LRN. cheap, cheap
But will buy Bayou 124 grain LRN HITECK coating when my supply is gone
Exact same mould.

Since I discovered the 147 grains, I have to admit I've become a fan. I still have 124 and will use them, but I just love the heavier ones. Less power required, less muzzle flip, quicker follow-ups. My load is 3.8 grains of CSB-1 and it propels them to 920 fps in my SP01.

Berry's 124 gr. RN and HBFP have worked good here. I shied away from the leads for now. For me, fast powders and lead didn't mix too well. Still on the learning curve. :)

Precision Delta 147gr jacketed ball ammo, 3.5g titegroup, 1.11-1.12 o a l

little to no crimp at all, amazing round! very accurate.

be safe

Sorry I forgot, I'm getting older every day!:D

We can do another poll of separating Jacketed from plated and then nose profiles;)

For the longest time I used 115 Winchester jhp but finely ran out was gonna switch to Remington 124 jhps but prices are just too high so I only have 1000 of them to shoot before I switch to something else. I'm thinking either plated or coated from here on. I also shoot quite a few 147 plated in my guns that prefer that weight.

115 FMJ because it is the most common in the stores around here. I have two guns that prefer the heavier bullets but, for 90% of my range plinking I use 115. I use 115 JHP in my carry weapons as well.

At first I didn't really know what to buy so I looked at my factory ammo to see what was the most common weight bullet and that is what I bought (115r). Now I have been buying 124r FMJ or XTP bullets.

I don't reload 9mm much but when I do I like a 115gr. FMJ with 4.7 grs Win 231,CCI 500 primers and coal of 1.151". These shoot and cycle well in my Sig P239.

That CSB-1 with heavy boolits is a winner, Nordeste. Let me know if you ever try those 158g PrviPart SJHP's. I really like them

It does work well. I have noticed it works better with the heavier bullet than it does with the lighter 125 grainers. It looks to burn better and the feeling is closer to that of a .45 ACP, more of a push instead of the snappier feeling of the lighter bullets.

I don't think, however, that I'll be going any heavier for the moment. By the end of the week I hope to have a batch of 4000 147 grains bullets and that should cover my shooting needs until next fall. Or it should, who knows ;).

Latest I heard is that Maxam could be developing new rifle powders. This is still just a rumour, but as soon as I have a confirmation on this I'll let you guys know ;).

I voted for several.
My fav is 124 gr RN plated.

But I now & then try something different.

Just this week I found ACME 115 gr LRN (lead round nose for the new people)
I thought the wooden container was cool
And they included 104 bullets & a 105th one in a separate bag marked "One For Good Luck".
I thought it was neat.

124 grain Bayou coated LRN for an all around plinking round. I've also had really nice luck with 147 grain Bayou coated TCFP under Unique. I have some HP-38 coming to test with the 147s. The heavy bullet makes for a powder puff, soft recoiling round.
