9mm single stack

Single stacks shine because of their width. The width not the length of the gun is the hardest part to conceal IMHO. That is why the 1911 is such a great conceal carry piece.

That is why my summer carry is a Kahr CW9 which is only .90"

Two different guns for two different purposes.

Thin and light for carry, with spare mag if necessary.

Double stack hi capacity for HD - with a longgun/shotgun for backup.

Recommendations for the single stack - hmmmm... I recently became a fan of the Sig Sauer and now ordered a P6 for $400 from Wideners - a singel stack Sig with 9 rounds of 9mm. I haven't experienced it, but am a fan of the P220 which is the big brother.

As for home defense, really any hi-cap or caliber gun that you happen to like. Not limited to size or weight.

Arizona great comparison! I thought the grip was small on the XD compact till I saw the Kahr. I'll have to see if my range rents both and shoot them and see which fits me better. The side by side shot was very enlightening.

One poster mentioned getting what carries well first so you won't leave it at home, I thought hat was good advice. As for the people saying but two guns, I probably will, but for now it will be CC with laser sights. I hear the laser is a great deterrent as well as a way to improve accuracy and form.
