New law in Alabama allows open carry.:D I have a CCW and carry a small 9mm.

I no longer have to worry about printing, so I want a bigger pistol for better accuracy. I would like a light weight single stack 9 double action only. (no safety like glock or Keltec)

I am looking at the Sig P6, but it is heavy+safety, exposed hammer, etc.

Ideas?

PS, no I will not open carry like Clint Eastwood and would still cover it with a shirt.

Actually, OC has always been legal in AL, I think the recent legislation just clarified that so their is no questions about it.

Full size, single stack 9mm are not the most common set up. One place to look would be Kahr. Their TP9 is a full size, polymer frame, single stack 9mm. It is striker fired (like Glock) with no manual safety.

Just my opinion, but I don't think that conceal carrying with a plan to print is the best choice. If you print everyone once in a while in certain positions or bending down that is one thing, but I wouldn't want to walk around badly printing 100% of the time.

I believe some of the older S&W autos were single stack. I wouldn't second the Kahr for current production.

HK P7, or P7M8. Single stack, 4 inch barrel, 8 + 1 capacity, very accurate, very reliable, and slim. Yes it is a bit heavy, and not cheap, but with a decent holster, I forget I am wearing it.

Thank for the response's!

That Kahr looks like what I am looking for, did not know it existed.

I have been in the same boat for awhile having carried and bought guns from keltec's to khars, g26 to g36, g34 to a 386xl

Do yourself a favor and shoot a Walther pps. It's the single stack 9mm that shoots like a much larger pistol I've been looking for.

Kahr TP9 is a fine choice as is the P7. Don't forget the all steel Kahr T9, seen here with it's German counterpart.

Kahr T9, TP9 or P7 all have a 4" barrel, striker fired, sleek profile, 8+1 capacity and a nice trigger. If I were to choose one for open carry I'd probably go with the TP9 because of it's light weight. It fits in my Mitch Rosen Premier, made for a K9.

In my opinion there is no finer carry pistol of the single stack/9mm variety than the S&W 3913 and its variations. I had a H&K P7 and while it is a magical pistol to shoot I didn't find it very comfortable for carry. I shoot the 3913 equally as well and it carries perfectly on the hip.

I bought the tp series kahr but in 40sw. Light weight easy to control and thin.

My personal favorite single stack 9.. 92compact Type M. DA/SA and rather hard to find though.

S&W 3913 or 3953 can still be found..... id recommend one of those.

I second the 239

Not quite a 4 inch barrel but what it lacks in length it makes up for in class.

The P239 is an excellent pistol with a better trigger than a P225 or P6 but any of the three are great single stack 9mm pistols. The P239 is easy to conceal but I've switched from a P239 to a Springfield XD-S in .45 Auto because the XD-S is lighter. The P239 is way nicer to shoot though, feels way better in the hand, has a much better trigger, sight radius and sights than the XD-S. My P239 has never even bobbled over thousands of rounds consisting of factory and reloaded ammunition. If only SIG made a polymer framed P239.

S&W 3906. Might be hard to find as they only made them for a short period of time.

All stainless steel frame and slide. Forged parts. Shoot +P+ like they were .22's. Fine pistol. Good luck with your search!
