Subcompact double stacks have very little utility for me.

Too large to be a subcompact. If the thickness of a double stack is fine in a given situation, I have no problem with a compact or full size either.

I am old enough to have started with revolvers so I can deal with the trigger on the Kel-Tec P-11. With the right magazine bottom it will carry 12+13rd.s . I can carry & shoot it it well, with no problem. But its NOT a range gun! Now my Ballester-Molina in .45acp. Or S&W 1917useing .45AR. Those are for the range.

I didn't vote in the poll but my main carry guns are double stack 9mm subcompacts - A Beretta Px4 SC and a Glock 26. They are also my main range guns as I don't target shoot much anymore but train/practice gunfighting at < 30' and since I carry this type I train with it as well.

I also have smallish hands for a man with palms about 4" across. I don't know if I have answered your questions or not. :)

For a double stack subcompact, you can hardly do better than a Glock 26. It's a blast to shoot at the range, easy to carry, and great for home defense. MI e would be the last gun I'd get rid of... I shoot it as well as a full sized 9mm.
While I thoroughly enjoy shooting 1911s, my G26 makes me grin. It's not the MOST accurate pistol in my collection, but it is accurate enough and very, very fast.

I think a double stack subcompact could be okay. To me it's the length of the grip more than the thickness that dictates how well it can be concealed. I have been really wanting to try an HK P2000sk but can't find one to fondle. If I want to even handle one I'll probably have to order one online.

I voted full-sized and it is what I most often carry as well, a P226. I wear a size Lg glove though, my hands do well with full-size double stack grips.

I think generally speaking, the mid-size double stacks (~4" barrel like G19) are the best all-around range/carry guns. Small and light enough to be carried all day by most with a good belt/holster, large enough to be shot very well at speed.

I have to vote full size just because I am more accurate with the larger gun, however I enjoy shooting my XD subcompact at the range and usually take it every trip.

Full size for range use, Compact for range use and CCW, and Subcompact for CCW.

All of them feel "just right" because if they didn't I wouldn't be shooting them.
