I've got 2 Slide Stops for a 9mm 1911 that work fine with my mags. I've also got a third slide stop that does not protrude as much into the magazine well, but I ALMOST need calipers to tell the difference if I hold them side by side.
When I stick a mag into the gun with the slide off, I can see that on the third slide stop, the followers sometimes go around the slide stop. Sometimes the slide stop will catch, sometimes not. There is no hint of wear on it, so I don't think it's worn out at all.
Does it sound like this slide stop is for a .45, not a 9mm?
ETA: I've found that I can just use mags with different followers, but I'm not sure if that changes the situation at all.
