I've got 2 Slide Stops for a 9mm 1911 that work fine with my mags. I've also got a third slide stop that does not protrude as much into the magazine well, but I ALMOST need calipers to tell the difference if I hold them side by side.

When I stick a mag into the gun with the slide off, I can see that on the third slide stop, the followers sometimes go around the slide stop. Sometimes the slide stop will catch, sometimes not. There is no hint of wear on it, so I don't think it's worn out at all.

Does it sound like this slide stop is for a .45, not a 9mm?

ETA: I've found that I can just use mags with different followers, but I'm not sure if that changes the situation at all.

To my knowledge they all use the same slide stop. The magazine width is the same for all calibers - that is why those grooves are stamed into the mag body. Follower width (were it engages the stop) should be the same regardless of caliber. I think the stop or the follower is just a little out of spec.

I'm not really familiar with 9mm 1911's, but I am with 45acp ones. I have seen different slide stops available for 9mm/38super vs 45acp. I don't know if that's your problem, but it's somewhere to start.

I was wrong. Most places seem to catalog 45 and 38S/9mm stops. What the difference is; I couldn't tell you.
