What would you rather have on your hip, and why.

I'm thinking 9mm, ammo is abundant and cheap. But stopping power, any opinions?

What Magazines?

I shoot a S &W 625 and have a bunch of
full moon clips - about 500 rounds of ACP as
well as 560 in Auto RIm so I think you can figure out
the answer as I don't own a 9mm. I had a Browning
High Power - liked the platform but not the caliber.

A 1911 is atop my shopping list along with a .22 LR
conversion barrel/slide/magazine. ALso have a good source
for .45 ACP 150 br. #7 1/2 SHot (110 count) Shotshells.
does anyone make shotshells for a 9mm?

If i HAD to get shot with a 9mm or 45,i would rather get shot with a 9mm 100 out of 100 times

odds say i have a much better chance of surviving

i personally know a guy who got shot 8 times in the torso with a 9 mm,drove himself to the hospital and is walking around today

know another guy who got shot 5 times with a 9 mm,4 in the chest and abdomen,1 in the head.he lived a normal life 4 years after being shot,the docters left the 9mm bullet in his head after he got shot,the bullet moved while he was sleeping and he died recently in his sleep

of course, since everyone knows 9mm's hit like mosquito bites while 45's will take a man's arm off in 1 shot, i guess we're obliged to go with 45.

Wow. A "9 vs. .45" thread. Never seen one of those.

Here, you can see the 9mm passing through the sinus cavity of a gerbil:



As you can see, it barely had any effect. In the end, the animal had to be finished off with the mighty .45:



Obviously, the 9mm barely has the ballistic energy to puncture paper, but the almighty .45ACP as God and John Moses Browning Intended has the sheer Manliness to wobble the Earth on its axis.

.45 shooters of the world, rejoice, for you have chosen the One True Cartridge. But bear in mind, that with great power comes great responsibility.

Of course, I sidestep the entire debate by carrying a .357Mag lately. Fear my REAL ULTIMATE POWER, mortals, for Elmer Keith coulda roundhouse kicked John Browning, Samuel Colt and Jeff Cooper in the shins and they'd have THANKED him for the honor.
