Hello all,
I have been through just about every forum I can find (as well as THR archives), and have found lots of people talking about this conversion. I have run down all the parts I need (9mm barrel reamed to 9x23, 9mm barrel bushing/compensator), what I need is someone with the experience with this conversion to let me know what recoil spring to use. I would prefer to not break my wrist when the slide slams to the stops with most of its energy still in it. Any place to buy the recommended springs would be helpful too. I have seen people with EAA witness pistols using 22# springs. I don't know if that is necessary, but again those with experience would be great. BTW this is 9x23 winchester not largo, and I will be using factory ammo or factory equivalent handloads. No thermonuclear handloads here.

I've got a Tok and a 9x23 Win barrel, but I've just been using the stock recoil spring. It seems that Wolff used to sell stronger recoil springs for the Tok, but they don't anymore. I've looked at recoil springs from a number of different pistols and haven't found one that will fit the Tok yet.

for the springs, it kinda depends, if you are pushing more recoil, then yes stiffer springs help to dampen it, as for how heavy, there is math involved, or you can tune by how far your brass is thrown.

thanks for the tips, I guess I will just shoot it and see. If it breaks it's not like its too expensive to get another. I love com-bloc guns.

Springs work both ways

A heavy recoil spring will slam the slide forward battering the parts.
You ought to consider a new mainspring for the hammer. It will take up some of the slides energy when cocking the hammer. This will tend to increase your trigger pull.
No free lunch.

the Tok hammer pack is difficult to respring, in the end, the spring is mainly to dampen the recoil that the slide absorbs and transmit it into the forward motion. It has nothing to do with the locking mechanism.
