depending on your age, military affiliation, I've read and reread the following 4

Generation Kill, One Bullet Away, Yellow Smoke, A Marine named Mitch

I'm currently reading, The soldier's load and the mobility of a nation, but it's a long Esay style of writeing, mostly about logistics, mentaility and basic leadership that gets forgotten about... I wouldn't recommend it

"The Gift of Fear" by Gavin De Becker

This book is not about guns, but about self-awareness and instinct. It is about the importance of reacting to your initial instinct, before human cognition can rationalize the sequence of events. As humans, we tend to rationalize our fears. Animals just react. This is not so much about about confronting a threat... but using our instincts to identify and avoid a threat. One of the best books I have read.
