I'm getting interested in black powder shooting and "Mountain Man Rendevous" period weekend events. In most of these get togethers everything about the way you dress, your guns and your campsite needs to be traditional pre 1840's style. Synthetic stocked inline muzzleloaders are not allowed and you have to wear buckskin shirts and pants. Your tent has to be the traditional canvas with wooden stakes and support beams. I'm not having any problems finding a traditional style blackpowder rifle or singleshot pistol. That's the easy part. Where are some good sites to check out if you're looking for these other items though?

You don't have to wear buckskins..., in fact they often "suck" in very hot weather, or cold, wet weather. :what: My buckskin leggings are great when I am hunting birds or rabbits around berry bushes or wild rose, as they really help with the thorns, but otherwise, I don't wear any leather clothing. Although I normally do 1700's activities, yet my shirts, hat, and plain coat easily fit the fur trade era when I swap out my knee breeches for trousers.

Get on this forum, and ask about fur trade clothing sources and they will hook you up. The upper right hand corner of the topic menu has the login/join button.
