I fondled the new PRO line (SA/DA instead of DAO) yesterday at the gun show for the first time and really liked it. I cannot decide between .40 and .45, though. I haven't shot either and don't really know how they compare, can anyone give some insight? I've shot an XD40 and a couple 1911's so I'm picturing the .40 being a lot snappier than the .45 as in these two guns. The safety is also a decocker, right? Is it considered safe to carry these decocked/safety off as opposed to cocked and locked, if there is no decocker?

Taurus 24/7

I had a Taurus 24/7 in 45acp and it was a very good gun. I ended up trading it in for a Dan Wesson 1911. It shot very nice, it seemed to have less recoil than my Glock 21, and it was more accurate. I remember reading an article in some gun magazine in which they said the .40 24/7 had less recoil and was a little more accurate than the .45. How was the DA/SA on the new Pro model. I am thinking about getting another 24/7, for the price you can't beat em.

The trigger was pretty nice. DA wasn't bad and SA had a little takeup and then broke pretty crisply, though it was a bit heavier than my Arcus. I hear that they breakin and get a lot lighter.

Taurus 24/7

I would go with whichever caliber you like best. In my experience the .45 seems to be a little more accurate than the .40, and ammo costs about the same. With the .45 24/7 you also have the high capacity. The .45 cant be beat.
