I have one in stainless...but my, oh my, the blued GP100 short shroud looks so awesome! I miss those days of blued weapons! Cudos on that one...one for the collection.

Here are some new pictures of this GP-100 after I had put on some larger GP-100 grips. See what you think looks better on this particular GP-100, the compact ruger grips or these larger Ruger grips? I think that these half-lug GP-100's make all the difference in the world as to how a change in grips can change their personality.:

I have a blued 4" fixed-sight GP100 in .38 Special. For shooting and field carry I prefer the larger grip. The smaller grip is a little better for concealed carry, though.

Ruger should have put adjustable sights on short shrouded GP-100s. I would definately get one.

Helps a bit on weight and the asthetics pleasing to the eye.

Z Infidel: Thanks for your comments-as I was thinking that the larger Ruger grips would be better than the more compact Ruger grips for shooting My GP-100. I don't carry-so this doesn't matter to me. I'll just be shooting at the gun range from time to time.

medic15al: Yes, I agree with you that Ruger should have also offered the adjustable sights on the short shrouded barrels!

They did, at least in the 6" version. I bought mine new that way because I did not want the additional weight of the full lugged variant.

Gp-100

There is a 6" SS GP-100 1/2 lug, with adjustable sights, on Gunbroker right now.

Auction # 79008557. 23+ hours left on sale.

Are the larger grips those that Ruger says are for the adjustable sight model? I have a SS short shroud 3" and would love to have the larger grip, but the Hogues that fit it are way too large. Thanks.

Verrrrrry nice.

I'm just curious. Why do my fellow Ruger revolver lovers seem to value the short underlug models in the 3" GP100?

I love my 3" GP100 (stainless full underlug) and I'm very curious what the appeal of the short underlug is on the GP100 models with the shorter barrels. Is is aesthetics, ease of personal carry, or balance in the hand?

I personally prefer a full underlug for a uniform profile and that much more help with felt recoil since the gun's already relatively small in the 3" size, but that's just me. Is it the appeal of something that's not made any more? I understand the desire for the shorter underlug on the 4" and larger models where the barrel is so long, it could amount to a considerable amount of weight that some users might feel unnecessary.
