A few new posters

3rd picture I, for one, love it!!!!!!

I see several members don't seem to relate to the mother standing between her kids and an unseen intruder... with a 1911 pistol... waiting for the police to get there.
I've been there, done that and this picture brought a tear to my eye.

My first 2 thoughts were :
1.) that she should never have to be in that position - but life happens and there really are bad people out there that will do massive harm to the unprotected.
2.) My mind jumped to how this picture would look if she didn't have the pistol. She'd be cowering behind the bed with her two kids waiting and hoping that the police showed up before the intruder comes into the bedroom. In this sceneario, she'd be a sheep waiting for the wolf.

Really like #46. My wife is a great shot, she is just a little hesitant on picking them up and coming to the range with me. It's also great because that looks like the ACOG that I want to put on my SIG 556. Awesome choice on that rifle for that pic, for me to help get my wife more into shooting :D And no gushing on that. For me, it works in a way that very very few other things would be able to.

Rofl. That was the inspiration that I needed to take my wife to the store to 'look at some reloading supplies'. I just happened to tell her that she was free to look at something that was more comfortable for her hands than mine... and she picked an XD9. And she told me she wanted a CWP. Like I died and went to heaven.

Sad to think it, but how many times did the nazi/jewish woman situation play out in reality? How many times were they stripped, raped and then shot?
Never give up guns. Ever.

Posters are definitely cool.

The only thing I absolutely have to mention is that the little red riding hood one isn't something I would post in a store that I own on account of the fact that her clothing looks like something that could be from an adult costume store. As a result of this it comes off as unrealistic to me, and potentially repulsive to someone on the fence who is a family values proponent. I would recommend that you change it as Akodo suggested, a hoodie and correctly tight blue jeans is very common and believable.

These 3 things are light suggestions and probably subject to interpretation.
-the 3rd one looks goofy to me mostly in that the woman has a crazy facial expression and she looks like shes about to drop that gun as if it were a hundred pound brick.
-The 2nd one is absolutely cool, just that with a quick glance to me it looks like his "Daughter" could be old enough to be his wife (If you hadn't stated it I wouldn't know). Alternately the guy may look younger than he really is to me, also this is the modern world so im not gonna judge.
-Love the last one, just make sure it stays out Germany because I hear they've outlawed pretty much anything Nazi related.

Besides that, great.

I for one find the nazi and jew poster to be very moving and the BLURRED nudity was a very good touch as it conveys a sense of complete vulnerability and defenselssness.

I like the others as well, but that is the most effective IMO.

Oleg, VERY good work overall. I think some of the folks replying to this are a little too up-tight or perhaps have an overly generous opinion of themselves. While I tend to agree with some of the "facts" regarding lower priced, "cheaper" firearms, reality dictates that you buy what you can afford. And for many families, including single moms (and dads), single income families, ect., a Kel-Tec may be the best they can FIND, let alone afford.

Remember folks, right now isn't exactly prime-time for a premium selection of guns or ammunition. Would YOU buy that "I always wanted to have one" handgun if you COULDN'T buy or find the ammo for it, and really, truly NEEDED it or at least FELT like you did? OR, would you settle for something that you could walk out of the store with a box of ammunition too? You get the point? I am also "fortunate" enough to be able to afford quality firearms, but I know folks who can't. There are many, wonderful, used revolvers out there that are GREAT home defense guns.

As a firearms Instructor, I recommend double-action revolvers almost 100% of the time to "newbies" and those who are new to self-defense. Believe me, you'd be surprised at how many folks have hunted their entire lives and never gave a thought to using a firearm for self-defense against 2-legged animals.

Back to the posters. I like posters showing women taking the initiative to defend themselves and their families. I travel quite a bit, but I am 100% confident in my wife's ability to defend herself, and our children, in my absence. She recently took an Antelope on the move with one shot. If you don't understand what that means, read up on Pronghorn hunting. She still however, likes to see that other women are doing the same. I'm a guy, so I don't get it, but women like to know that they aren't alone when it comes to guns and ESPECIALLY CCW. I am trying and my wife says I'm making progress:eek: Keep up the good work.

While it's not "my thing", I personally like the pink AR, or at least the young lady you have modeling it, or with it, or whatever you call it :D They make a fine pair. And pretty or not, I wouldn't want to be looking down the wrong end at either one of them.

Oh, and one other thing. I have a buddy who is a certifiable "gun nut", and he carries a Kel-Tec 9mm EVERY DAY. He loves it and I couldn't steal it from him if I tried. Lest you think he is somehow deprived, he also shoots competitively with $5000 custom rifles and 1911's. Let the gun-snobs swallow that. He has more than an adequate selection of excellent handguns to choose from, but due to his particular situation, the Kel-Tec works for him. It's not MY cup-of-tea as they say, but who am I to judge?

Kel tecs are quality guns that fill a niche as well or better than others for a lower price and is a company that actually stands behind their product....

So long as we are on the topic of inexpensive guns...

Steyr .32

Gorgeous machining, tip-up barrel...heavy and big.

Kel-tec P32 (newer model than my backup but the same otherwise)

P32_pocket_clip_6743web.jpg

Adequate looks but nothing fancy. Simpler in use, probably 1/3 of the weight and half the size. And, if we are comparing price adjusted for income of the time, perhaps 1/10 the price.

I deal with people for whom $105 for CHL application and $120 for the mandatory course are not affordable. They end up carrying .22 pistols for lack of money to get practice ammo in any other chambering. Many such people have no access to informal rural ranges, so also have to come up with $20-30 range fee every time they need to go practice. Less expensive guns in common calibers (such as P11) are popular for that reason also.

I hear ya on that. I have no access to any spot in the woods where you can just shoot. I need to pay for range time by the hour every time. Thankfully I've got enough cash to practice once every 2-3 weeks but a lot of people around here do not.

Nothing inexpensive about that pre-war Steyr. That fire bluing is still brilliant. Neat old pistol.

I really like the first one you posted there. That is totally my 2 year old son. Everything is a gun to him, and they are always full auto with unlimited ammo...

Definitely need to teach him that is not the case in real life.

Great posters.

#56, that "only good commie" t-shirt cracked me up. :D

Email en route for a high-res of the first on #1. :)

....

if you know a graphic designer ... that wouldn´t hurt.

As a copywriter i can just tell you, that the positioning of the headlines
as well as rather leaving something out - makes a great difference.

THe "do before TV or Rappers do" is a good simple idea.

The others are too simple/blunt for me.

a smarter pic/headline combination makes for a poster
that does not only appeal to the already convinced ... but also
might grab the positive attention of "the other people".

my 02$.
Cheers, Mp7

So for the "not hollywood" picture did you put out a request for ugly people?

Just kidding!!!

The Nazi one with the woman is the best one you have ever done IMO.

Billboards - Mag. ads - newspaper ads

Great posters, Oleg.

These make a huge impression on me and many of THR members but we're already convinced and dedicated to 2nd amendment rights. These need to get out to the general public like on a billboard or in a large newspaper/magazine ad.

If any THR member is into commercial advertizing or works with billboard prep or knows how to approach newspapers/mags then maybe you could start a fund toward getting several of Oleg's posters displayed where thousands or millions will see them.

Think of the impact that the anti-abortionists have made with their billboards on "a heart is beating in x days" or "a fetus has 'fingers' in x weeks". Those billboards and ads are in many places and, I guess, are having an impact.

I know... "It's easy to say but hard to do." If I were more talented at getting the above done, I'd start the project but I'm a land surveyor and haven't the foggiest idea of how to get all of the detail work going for this kind of project.
