Does anyone here have any information a a Winchester model 270 rifle. Its a 22lr pump action that my Dad gave to me not long ago. I'm actually going to pass it down to my son to use. It has a Weaver 2x scope on it and is in pretty good shape. Just needs a good cleaning, has been sitting in Dad's closet for years now. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have one of these as well, love the gun. I did some research on it a short time ago. They were not huge market successes because of other similar guns on the market at the same time that were all metal and real wood instead of the weird wood product and some plastic parts on the 270.

So, monetarily they are not really worth anything. However, I love mine. It is accurate as can be and extremely reliable. I got mine from my dad as well and he shot it every summer for 30 some odd years with no cleaning other than swabbing out the barrel and it has never jammed or misfed to my knowledge using whatever 22 ammo (longs, shorts, or LR) happened to be cheap at the time. I did finally take it all the way down and clean it right and it is now smooth as glass. If you can get past the rinky dink BB gun feel it is a great gun.

Also, at home somewhere I have the take down manual in .pdf form if you want.

I had a bugger of a time finding info on the gun. Google was mostly useless since Winchester 270 is of course also one of the more prolific rifle calibers. Throw in the word model and it starts going for Model 70 rifles. The good folks at rimfirecentral hooked me up.
