I have always liked the GP100 except they are not that refined. I sent a beater to Marc at Gemini Custom and then made a trip to Jim at Badger Grips. The results speak for themselves. The grips are perfect for my hands!! The trigger pull is awesome and Marc kept it classic looking yet refined. The sights are Bowen rough country with bowen gold bead front sight. The warning label was taken off and the top of the frame slightly scalloped. The great part is that I have less that 1100.00 bucks invested including the gun:D

that is definitely the nicest GP-100 i have seen in a long time.

it's amazing how just squaring up the lines improves how a gun looks

Thanks fellows! I really love the GP100 design, but never cared a lot for the looks. I have owned a Python which IMO is the nicest looking revolver ever made, but for watever reason it never fit my hand right even after trying several grips. The 686 and GP100 always felt just right. I stupidly sold the Python Elite just before they quit making them:banghead: I have a 686 plus that has an awesome trigger job, 4" barrell and I can not decide whether I like it or the GP100 better. I was happy with Marc at Gemini for keeping it classic looking while improving the appearance. I highly recommend him! I also think highly of Jim and the Badger Grips. He is very nice and makes IMO the best quality grip going. They will last forever and while he has standard grips on his website, he will customize by customer request. I watched him make mine and he charged the same as a standard grip. I later went back and he made them a little slimmer for me after a trip to the range. He did not charge for the re-shaping:D I fully intend to order another set of grips with a shamrock inletted into them in the future. I am happy with the results of the GP100 and I wish Ruger would x the warning label and clean up the sharp edges during production and offer Badger grips as an upgrade! I bet if they did this many people would pay an extra 200-300 bucks, kind of like a S&W performance center gun??

I thought only I did that!

Seems your experience is much like mine. Had a nice Python with Sherman roller action tune but like you say didn't fit my hand right even with aftermarket grips. Part of this was due to extremely long trigger reach compared to other medium frames. Sold it to a friend. The action was something else. Did get a 686 Mtn. Gun that I had tuned and customized and it works quite well so won't make the mistake I did selling the Python. My GP also had been modified and tuned but still thinking about grips as the wood Hogues are so so even without the finger grooves. The 686 and GP make a nice pair. Like the cosmetics that Marc did on yours. Might send my next Ruger to him. Nice gun, enjoy.

If Ruger did their GP100 like Gemini does they would have to charge more than S&W does for their M686!!! :banghead:
Too true.

The old man seemed to enjoy the idea of rugged "functional" looking guns, above aesthetics, which is strange as he was a collector of some of the most beautiful guns ever made. Guess it's hard to argue with success, but it would be nice if Ruger's looked as good as they function.

The looks of the GP is what's always made me prefer the Security Six series guns, even if they're no beauty contest winners themselves.

I agree about the Python's looks. Beautiful gun, but I never could shoot one worth a darn, and I saw a lot of them break back in the old days. It's why I had Bill Davis make me both a "Smolt", and a "Couger" back then. Wish I still had both of them.....:(
