I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but...
EBay is full of parts that folks have for sale from stripped, new(er) pistols bought from Cabela's or elsewhere, and the sellers usually say so.
There are many Pietta 1851 Navy grips for sale on EBay. The ones that have a lot of figure are made from some type of European hardwood with a reddish stain. Very good looking, IMO, and I have one on my replica Pietta 1851 Navy Squareback.
The EBay grips with little figure are European walnut and will stand up to refinishing; the hardwood ones will not without a lot of stain.
When I get my Pietta Griswold and Gunnison this Christmas I will not hesitate to purchase some nicely figured wood (as above) to replace what I expect to be plain grained walnut.
Just my $.02 worth.
