I just purchased a NIB Kimber CDP pro. So naturally I ordered up 1k of ammo and I started looking at some extra mags. I know that Wilson is one of the better brands out there but what I am confused about is the number of rds that the mags hold.

I have the Pro so that should be the full sized grip correct? the factory mag haolds 7rds. What I have been finding online are all 8rds or officers. I know the officers wont fit the Pro grip. But will the 8rd ones fit flush the bottom of the grip?

Congrats, you'll like the Pro CDP. I just acquired a Series I and love it.

Wilson's are the industry standard. Period.

Seven round magazines are the industry standard per design...(JMB)

Many folk prefer to have the extra round. (Since you can't ever get 15, might as well have 8)

The 8th round comes at the expense of some razzle dazzle with the spring, follower and base plate....razzle dazzle being the opposite of KISS.

I have Wilson 47D's galore and some CMC that I use in my SW1911 (CMC has a bad rep of gouging the alloy frames of your Kimber).

As it so happens, I bought into the group buy on another forum for Metalform mags yesterday. And bought 5 Novak mags at Kieslers Online.

I'll test these out. All 8 round capacity, round follower. We'll see how they fit and function. The Metalforms were $9.65 and the Novaks were $11.99.
Wilson's go around here for $27-32

If you don't care for 8, you can always load only 7....

Buy, borrow, or steal a few of each...

...and give them all a try. Some guns don't like certain magazines. Wilson 47Cs (7 round, full size grip, slim basepad) work fine in my Springfield, but they're a really tight fit in my NRM Commander. Overall, get magazines with removable base plates for the sake of serviceability, so you can pull 'em down, knock any dirt or junk out of them, and replace the springs once and a while.

Metalforms, Novaks, Wilsons, McCormicks, etc etc, give each a try before you plunk down some hard earned cash on a bunch of one brand, only to find out they're kinda persnickety in your gun. Chances are they'll all work fine, but you know how Murphy works...

Yes, there are 8 round magazines that fit flush with the frame. If there is an extra plastic piece on the baseplate of the magazine, they will not fit flush. Some people like that for competition, they make it easier to ensure the magazine is seated when reloading rapidly.
For CCW, I prefer a flush fit magazine. I then carry magazines with extended baseplates - if I ever need to reload, I will be in a hurry.
