Today was a typical Western Oregon December day: fairly dark and turning wet. Good day for the indoor range. Took one of my newer (to me) guns, an older full size Witness, .45 ACP, stainless. ('93 vintage, really . . . stainless). I bought the gun a few months ago because I was looking for a target .45 and didn't want to lay out the bucks for a 1911. Someone had put some effort into this gun. Trigger job, feed ramp polishing, removed the firing pin block, radiused the back of the slide, adjustable 1911 sights. It is completely unsafe for carry. And the rear sight would drift in the dovetail. A trip to the 'smith took care of that. Since I want to shoot competition with it, I've been working up a light target round using a 200 grain SWC bullet. Lots of range time just working out kinks. Well, finally, today I got to concentrate on markmanship. I'd like to know who did that trigger job. They did a good one. Practiced strong hand (left for me), weak hand, one hand, standing, kneeling, squatting. Good groups. Nice, big, high scoring, SWC holes. Left the range with a nice warm feeling. League starts again on January 20th and I'll be ready.

Kind of a rambling post, but heck, I'm in a rambling mood.
