I am not a Veteran....nor do I play one on TV.

But I thought today could be properly spent at the range, exercising the rights that Veterans have served, fought, killed, and died to preserve and protect.

So I took a good buddy of mine to the range.

We started off with handguns at 7 to 25 yards....paper targets and one steel silhouette ram on a two-foot tall stake.

Quite amusing.

One note......old poltical campaign stickers, especially those dark blue round ones, make really nice instant bullseyes on paper or even on various parts of steel silhouette rams........

Then, it was time to get the SKS and the .308 Enfield Scout rifle out to 100 yards....

Then, more handguns.

And then, to trap range. My friend had both a Beretta AL390 in 20 gauge and a Benelli M-1 in 12 gauge, along with a case of clay birds.

blam blam blam blam.......

Finally, my friend wanted to fulfill a long time fantasy of his....a "menage-a-1911" if you will.

He loaded up two "range toy" 10-round magazines and then put those into two .45 ACP 1911s.

And then, he walked up to within about 7 yards of the target with a fully-loaded 1911 in each hand, and with a lit-cigarette dangling from his lips...blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam blam......

Two-fisted .45 ACP mayhem......I laughed so hard, I got a stitch in my side.

He actually got 18 of the 20 shots onto the target.

A great way to spend an afternoon......

And for all you Vets....Sa-lute!

Thanks Hillbilly

My wife thanked me for serving our country first thing this morning. Then took me out to breakfast and then took me shooting. She says she has one more surprise for me later too. :D :D
Now this is one of the best Veterans Days I ever had. I hope the rest of you had a good one too.

A buddy and I took some old "veterans" to the range today:

2 Yugo SKS's (1 of each flavor)
1 Mosin-Nagant 1891/59
1 K98 Mauser
(For some strange reason we left the Garands and Enfields at home.)

Along with a selection of other weapons, including my no-ban Bushie AR-15 through which I ran 150 rounds using my newest "Govt/LEO/Export Only" mags.

A good time was had by all.
