I was wondering about something I have noticed about two of my revolvers I purchsed used. The first was a Colt Python I bought back in the 90s at one of my favorite pawnshops here in NC. I was checking it out when I got it home and noticed that the rear sights were adjusted all the way to the right. It was accurate at this position but I couldn't help but think the barrel or front sight was not properly aligned. I eventually traded the Colt away. My next occurance was with a Smith and Wesson Model 57 41 Mag I purchased on Gunbroker. I didn't notice it when I bid but the handgun arrived with the rear sights adjusted to the right side. I shot it that day and it was accurate at that adjustment setting. The barrel had been ported sometime after it originally was sold the first time. Today I was looking at another S&W on GB and in the pictures I noticed that the rear sights were adjusted way to the right. Is this a common accurance or is it possible that there is a slightly bent barrel or misaligned front sight? Has anybody here noticed this on revolvers for sale or purchased a handgun adjusted like this?

I have seen barrels that were clocked off one side or the other that still would shoot through various ranges but also others that clearly had barrels that were not on the same centerline as the frame and cylinder. The former is an irritation but the latter is basically an unusable gun past bad breath range
