I've not been around here in several years but I'd like to have an answer from someone with more experience than I've accumulated in the couple of years since beginning to practice this art.
My 7.92x57 experiences has on recently begun. What I've done that's given me concerns is changed bullet type and powder. Using 46gr. of H414 with a 200gr. jacketed soft-point I can attain, from the hodgdon charts, an OAL of 2.970". I've switched to using 52gr. of IMR 4350 with a 196gr. HPBT. The case is approaching being full to the neck and seating the bullet to 2.970" really is compacting the powder far more than I'm comfortable with doing for feeding my sweet old mauser. I've backed OAL off to 3.125" which is pretty close to the milsurp length.
Should there be an issue with this move, or am I making a proper move?
