I did a little horse trading today and ended up with 350 rounds of Federal 115grn +P+ ...never been a small bore guy, this was a Glock 27 set up to do .40 cal S&W__9mm_.357 Sig.

Now if i do any reading about 9mm-its the 147grn stuff that is the cats meow, should i just use the boxs to prop up the corner of the table,or they
are a decent round.

Did ssome reading and for sometime this was a police load.So 9mm guys should i bail on it or is it okay to use,and yes i know that little about 9mm.

Thanks:banghead:

This ammo came directly from some LEO i shoot two gun with. They went to .40 cal Sigs_They told me they had real good luck with them as long as the agent had commited to enough to hit COM---ie pelvic to shoulder--

Ended up with so much id hear a good story or two.Like i said________________Hoping.

I am guessing that it is Federal 9BPLE. It is a good round; old, but good, and is still used by some agencies I believe.

If you don't have a 9mm carry gun, then use it for the range. I would not feel undergunned at all if I got my hands on 350 rounds of it....it would most likely become my carry ammo.

There are many good self defense loadings for 9mm, but not many in 115 gr that I would consider carrying (this one, obviously, I would). Currently I carry Cor-Bon DPX 115 gr +P in my M&P, and Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +P in my Glock 19....I am going to get my hands on some Federal HST (124 gr +P and 147 gr) to test just because of all the good things that I hear about them. Hopefully they will perform as well as the DPX, because they are considerably more economically priced (read cheaper).

bob, If that is the Federal "9BPLE" it is actually real deal LE ammo. I have used 9BPLE in the last week or so, and over a period of years have shot a fair amount of this load. If 9BPLE, it has a nickeled case and a bullet shape that has fed 100% reliably in any 9MM I have ever used it in. It is fairly low flash in low light, and while it doesn't use the latest trick bullet, I would not hesitate to carry it as a duty or SD load. I have chronographed it in several guns and Velocities are very respectable. I have recorded average velocities with this load of 1260fps from a pistol with 3 1/2" barrel, 1400-1460fps in pistols with 5" barrels and 1585 fps in a carbine with 16" barrel.

It does sound like 9BPLE

At one time it set the standard for 9mm LE rounds. It is still my default load when I come across a 9mm which either won't feed or isn't very accurate, because the 9BP bullet will feed through just about everything and is usually very accurate

The 9 mm BPLE came in different loadings. Standard pressure, +P, and extra crispy. It is a very highly regarded round for a good reason.
