I've been reading as much as I can about bedding a bolt action rifle.... I plan to challenge myself with a pillar job and glass bed of the action on my Browning ABolt...

My question: is it best to pillar bed at the same time I glass bed the action? or is it better to do one before the other, if so, which should be accomplished first ? and why?

any help is appreciated....Thanks..

I don't usually pillar bed unless I find issues with screws changing torque on me. So usually, if they get done at all, pillars are second.
On wood stocks if there isn't an escutcheon, or bottom metal for the screw to tighten on, I'll install pillars.

On my Abolt I just beeded the action and didn't bother with pillars. It worked fine for both the original synthetic stock and the factory wood replacement I installed.

thanks... this makes perfect sense.... I'll glass bed the action and leave pillar bedding as another later option.... hearing from someone with an A-Bolt and factory hardwood helps me think through this process.....
