Pillar and Glass Bedding

Just to learn how it's done, I'm going to try my hand at both pillar bedding and glass bedding a Winchester M70 stock. I'm not worried about screwing it up because I'm thinking about a new stock anyway.

In searching info on the web, the one question I haven't found an answer to is: which should I do first, the pillars or the glass? Also, what's the reason for doing it in that order?

I'd really appreciate your views.
