A quick question about the assault weapons ban

Now that Obama has started his term as president, has he already reinstated the assault weapons ban and how has it affected US citizens? Are, say, AR15s on the list of banned guns? What about pump-action shotguns?

The president cannot reinstate any kind of legislation without it being passed through congress. No such assault weapons ban has been passed since Obama was sworn in.

The leaders of both the Senate and the House of Representatives recently stated that they both oppose a new AWB, in response to some pro-AWB remarks by our gun-law-404 Attorney General.

There is currently no AWB
There is currently no active AWB bill under consideration
The only bill with some firearms control elements currently is HR45 which is dying slowly and painfully in committee by being ignored to death

Can an AWB bill occur.........Yes
Is it probable that an AWB will occur and pass in the current political arena.....Low probability
Could that change, particularly if post 2010 the economy has markedly improved AND there are a very large number of pro control pols.....Possible but no one can predict
