Well, my parents surprised me with a new S&W SW9VE. This is my first S&W Semiauto. It appears to be pretty much a copy of the Glock as far as the takedown, trigger safety, and overall design are concerned.

My parents got my brother a new S&W 637. I got my dad a new S&W 642.

So anyways, how good or bad is the S&W SW9VE? What does the "VE" stand for?

Thanks and Merry Christmas everyone!

I have shot the SW9VE. About the same size as a Glock 19. The trigger pull is stout. About 9# for the SW9VE versus about 5# for the Glock 19 is what I have read (I have never measured either one with a gauge). I have heard that the SW9VE is very reliable. I wouldn't mind owning one, but I already have a XD9 that I like.

I have no idea what the VE stands for.

I think your dad made out the best with the 642.

My objection to the Sigma SW9VE has always been the excessively hard trigger pull (there are videos on how to improve it), but always thought it was a pretty good buy at $300
