As I am looking throught the cabinet to see if there is anything I can part with to raise a little cash for a project I am fixing to start, I come to my two swedes. One is last years deer rifle, a Tikka T3 stainless synthetic. The other is the recently acquired(NIB) CZ that had not been shot yet, but has a SWEET factory target with it. The CZ is the new style stock that I like the more I handle it. The new style also feels lighter than the old style. I also like the synthetic stock of the Tikka.

Anyway, if I were to part with one, which would you guys recommend? If I have to part with something, I like for it to be something that would be easily replaced down the road if I so decide, that is why I am looking at these two.

So which one wil it be? The Tikka is stainless. The CZ has pretty wood. The Tikka has a smooth bolt. The CZ has a single set trigger. Then there is the whole plastic vs metal debate that someone will chime in about.:rolleyes:.

According to my bathroom scales, and I weighed both 3 seperate times, placing in different locations on the scale, The CZ weighed appx 1/4 a pound more than the Tikka. Both are sporting the same nikon scope. Only difference is the gun itself.

The only thing left to do is to flip a coin...........;)

I'd probably keep the CZ and sell the Tikka, but I'm not big on the Tikkas to begin with. Do you have another stainless/synthetic rifle in a "deer appropriate" caliber? I'd want to have at least one SS rifle for harsh weather.

If you like the wood on the CZ, I would keep it. It may be hard to find a similarly stocked rifle later down the road.

Rifles

I suspect the CZ will shoot rings around the Tikka. I owned the Tikka Target Rifle (no longer made- looked like a sniper rifle). They sell for $1800/$3000 if you can find them. My $800 CZ 550 would out shoot it by quite a bit. Actually the CZ 550 is the most accurate rifle I remember shooting with factory ammo.

I also have a Ruger Stainless Laminate 243 that I could part with instead of the CZ or Tikka. It is what my son has been hunting with. He could step up to a 6.5x55 for deer hunting this year.

Viking;

How much you lookin' to get outta the Tikka? Another locksmith here at the shop is thinkin' about getting a rifle for his wife. That gun & caliber would seem to be an ideal combination for him. With & without scope?

Still trying to figure out whether to sell one or not. Might have to postpone my new project.......:banghead:

Son's not real keen on selling the ruger. He called it his............might be his early inheritance..........:rolleyes:

CB900F, Once I figure out, I will let you know..........

I go back and forth from keeping only one, then keeping both............decisions, decisions............

sounds to me like the decision is made.
Stick with the cz. you can always get another tikka down the road and the synthetic stock will be the same but if this cz has nice wood, it sounds like a keeper to me.
