One of our customers had his Kel-Tec P11 9mm pistol stolen in a residential burglery.
Low and behold the local Police recovered the pistol and arrested the dummy found carrying it.
The pistol was returned to the rightful owner after the courts were done with it.
The pistol had been "superglued" to identify latent prints on the gun.
The police forensic lab was also kind enough to permanently etch all kinds of property room information onto the gun as a bonus.
Wonderful.

Customer brings the gun to the shop and asks us if there is anything Kel-Tec can do to improve the appearance of his now nasty looking shooter.
We shrug and send the gun to Kel-Tec with a letter asking them if there is anything they can do and how much it will cost.
Please send us a work order with the amount needed to fix the pistol, blah, blah, blah.

10 days later the gun shows up in a UPS delivery.
We open the box and low and behold, the gun looks brand new.
New Slide, new barrel, new black polymar frame.
As a plus, they also performed an upgrade to the internals to improve overall functioning and reliability.
The cost?
No charge.

Excellent Customer Service and a very happy owner.
Well done Kel-Tec.

Considering the low initial cost of the P11, Keltec service is some of the best in the business. I carry the P11 everyday and have not had any problems yet. Good to know that Keltec backs their guns so well.

onmilo,
Your expiereance pretty much mirrors my own...Had 2 problem's with my Ktp-11 (one of them my doing  !) and kel-tec fixed both gratis...

Me, too. Same amazing story.
Bought a BEATER P32-- rusty blued slide, pitted barrel, ugly denim-blue grip.
$20 later, it came back with this GORGEOUS chrome slide, a new barrell, a new frame stamped with the same ser# as the original, all new internals, and a free trade for a different color grip.

Oh, and an extra set of frame pins, extra slide springs, and an extra magazine.
Gratis.

Do any of the high-end snob gun companies do as much?

I consider you both to be correct.
The actual 'receiver' of the gun is a sub assembly holding the operating componants.
This sub assembly is the serial numbered part of the frame assembly and as such, it can be, and is, identified as the 'operating frame' or the actual 'receiver' for the pistol.

The polymar 'grip frame' an be easily replaced and is considered a non durable/replacable portion of the lower receiver assembly in much the same way as a pair of grip plates are considered as a non durable/ replaceable componant on a conventional lower receiver assembly.

When I wrote my thread I should have identified the replaced part as the "Grip Frame" and not just the "Frame".

And my reply seemed, in retrospect, more "wise-a#%" than intended. You took it very nicely. My apologies. I should've followed it with a <grin>.

Lots of folks consider the Kel-tec guns a polymer-framed weapon, but since you can peel any of the polymer parts off and install new ones of a different color, that somehow seems inappropriate. You can also ship the "cover" in the mails without the ATF or the USPS getting upset.

My experience with Kel-Tec has also been first-class. Only Ruger comes close -- and Ruger once lost a bolt for a Target Competition that I had sent back for extractor replacement. They claimed they hadn't received it.

Luckily, UPS gets the name and signature of those accepting the item at the repair facility. Ruger was very embarrassed and apologetic. I got a NEW bolt.

My P32 developed a lot of creep (but still functioned just fine). I asked Kel-Tec to see if they could fix it and what the charges might be. They replaced the entire lower part of the gun... trigger, internals, grip... etc.

They told me they test-fired a mix of ammo after the work was done with it and there had been no malfunctions.

- and they sent me a new "assembly pin" saying that on a few of the guns it seemed to work it's way out. They gave me a new one just in case I wanted to switch to it.

- all for no charge. :) :) :) :)

I have heard many stories about the outstanding customer service that Kel-Tec provides. My only experience was certainly impressive too!

Good work Kel-Tec!
