So, I had a little visit from the Midway primer fairy in his brown uniform a little while ago. I had an e-mail reminder set up for Large Rifle primers for use with my .45-70, and I got an e-mail earlier in the week saying they were in stock. Luckily I happened to be sitting at the computer when the e-mail arrived. I really only needed 1000 large rifle (and those will probably last me several years), but I was in need of some small pistol. So, I checked the small pistol listings and found Winchester Small Pistol Magnum in stock. I don't generally use magnum primers, but I also don't load much near max, so I figured I've give them a try (and work up again of course). I wanted to buy a case (5000), but the site would only let me purchase 4000 (as it appears that was all that was in stock), so I ordered 1000 Winchester Large Rifle and 4000 Winchester Small Pistol Magnum. I wasn't thrilled at the price, $170 including shipping and hazmat, but thems are the times I suppose. Anyway, I thought I'd share (gloat?). :)

$34 a box. That's not too bad. Same price my local Mom and Pop are selling them for off the shelf.
Midway had Rem LR in stock last week too, but they didn't last long. At least something is starting to trickle in. My two local stores have never been out.

True, the one local dealer that has them in stock (LR and SP) wants $50/1000, so $34/1000 seemed like a deal compared to that. Of course, when I started handloading primers were something like $1/100. We will never see that again.

my dealer, scalper, is selling the 210 gms for 75/1000! I suppose he is not scalping to bad though because the tax was included in that price. I about threw up when he told me that. A couple of months ago, he was selling them to me for 31/k. I ordered some more from powder valley and they tell me it might take a month to get them but they are still 31/k plus the hazmat fee. I picked up quite a few of them plus some wolf. RG

Yeah, tax was included in the $50/k at my local dealer, but its still highway robbery. I saved $16/k over that price ordering from Midway, paying the shipping and hazmat, and I didn't have to leave the house. If I had bought the same amount at the local place that would have been an extra $80. I'm all about supporting local businesses, but come on.

Now all you need to do is brew a pot of coffee and turn on the stereo, and head for the bench!

The primer price stuff is spooky to the least.

Who would have thought they would sky rocket so much?

Back in November and December, I found a small store that was going out of business....more or less.....I picked up cases (5K) of Winchester primers for $50 a case. :D Had I known then what I know now, I would have taken a 2nd on the house and bought more. :banghead:

i got you all beat .75 cents for 100 LR primers. my local gunstore guy dosnt reload but buys reloading equipment secondhand and he had 800 LR primers for 75 cents a 100 bought them all. went there last week looks like he is caught up to speed he wants 3 bucks a pop for 100
