ABC News Gun Control Poll!!!

There have been three deadly shootings at schools within a seven-day period.

Should there be more gun control in the United States?

No. More gun control will not make us safer. Criminals will still get guns if they want.

Yes. Everyone, especially children, will be safer if guns are tougher to access.

Not a scientific survey.

We're still ahead, 1,657 ignorant people.

Folks can not only get guns (which they have a certain right to under the constitution) but they can easily get assault weapon and automatic weapons. These ought to be outlawed. It wouldn't help in all cases but might in others. Anyway it would be a step in the right direction.

Yes, banning our assault rifles would keep us safer, duh. Crime went down 5000 percent from '94 to '04, right?

Yet a gun is an object that has been built for the only purpose of killing others (animals or humans

Again, I agree. My Watlher P22 was a WMD, so I burned it.

Do they ever actually "report" the results of internet polls? I think they're just there for people online to look at. I doubt they are going to mention it a TV braodcast either way.

Just because they won't report the results is not a reason to vote!

We have the advantage; press it!

Best case scenario:
--every biased poll that is posted gets clobbered
--"they" do not "win" any of them
--"they" cannot/will not publicize any of them as a result...

That is not the worst of all possible outcomes. :)

Folks, I think discussion of this topic is healthy, but let's all make sure we have all of the facts before we go on about things like gun bans and confiscations. http://www.mcsm.org/gunfacts.pdf

The above document is fully cited and sourced, every single statistic and bit of information can be verified and traced. Now, if you can read that and honestly come back here with a straight face and say that guns need to be banned and that doing so would effectively combat violent crime, you'd be wrong. But it doesn't matter, because the right to keep and bear arms isn't about self defense, nor does it have anything whatsoever to do with crime, it is how our forefathers decided to combat the inequity between a federal power with a standing army and the citizens of the nation that power is supposed to serve. It is there for a very important and inalienable reason, it has nothing to do with guns or crime, it simply has to do with liberty.

However, in the spirit of debate, go ahead and read the document I linked. It's backed up with cites and sources, then we can talk.

Then I hit reload a couple of seconds later, same numbers. Did it IMMEDIATLY after that first reload, and got:

The accompanying article is a piece of manure.

Oct. 3, 2006 — The latest spate of school shootings likely will fuel a fresh round of debate on gun violence and gun control in this country.

Only if you make it so, ABC. You're the one throwing gasoline, nobody else has mentioned it.

Nine in 10 have favored background checks on would-be gun purchasers, and steps like banning assault weapons, mandatory trigger locks, and gun registration have been broadly popular.

WHICH ONE OF THOSE, ABC? The background checks? Or the rest? Deliberately misleading, are we?

Yet, other measures, such as banning handguns for anyone but the police, have been broadly unpopular.

Yes, ABC. That's called "How to start a revolution."

2016 to 1690, after my vote; as i see it ,the working amongst us are now home, reading thr, and voting. Conservatives tend to work all day, and find out about these things later, after the media has tried to hide them, by placing them in the early part of the day, when the benefits-receivers tend to be home, and just waking up.

hype

I would not be too enthusiastic about polls if I were you. Especially one conducted by ABC.

Have you seen their latest, or those of others, on the "popularity" of president Bush?

They know full well that unfortunately, there are many people who will be swayed and go the way the "reported" majority is going.

Don't believe the 50-50 business either. It is just an effort to encourage our so called representatives and senators to not represent us, but rather to vote as they are told the population is going -by the media and their campaign management.

It is all contrived, and is not a scientific nor unbiased effort.

Their goal is to sway and control politics to their viewpoint.

They stopped posting numbers, only the winner. 55% on our side, 3700 vote total. Keep up the good work!!!:D
