Hi folks. A quick question. Will the factory Ruger hicaps for the Mini-14 fit and function fine in post-ban rifles? Just wondering if they changed the mag design at all since they stopped making the hicaps. Thanks for any help.

They will fit and function fine regardless of pre or post ban configuration.

It is not that they quit making the high caps, its more that "uncle bill" deemed that we lowly peon civillians have no need for a high capacity(I call standard capacity) magazine. To this day Ruger makes them for law enforcement purposes.

Mannlicher, I respect your opinion to not trust anything but factory mags.

However, I will offer my personal experience of never having a problem with PMI(20 or 30's). or Thermolds for the Mini

I've never had problems with PMI 30rnd, factory 5rnd, or the ProMag 10rnd mags. All function perfectly with my Mini-14.

AZTOY:

I don't know of any sources off hand, although I know there must be dealers out there with them, as I see them at every gun show-unfortunately at gun show prices.

I have had my best luck over on the equipment exchange board on AR15.com under "Rifle Magazines and Parts:.

Prices vary, but generally they are in the range of $35.00-$55.00. I just keep my eye out for the price I am comfortable paying, and pick them up as I can.

AZ, I've bought PMI 20 and 30's on Gunbroker.com. Go to accessories. then magazines and clips. Put Mini 14 in search and it will bring them up. By the way, never had any malfunction with PMI
