From your Post #17, it seems like you're ready to go hunting, and it should be satisfying, to get one with your own loads. (even down to the bullet!)

I think I'd rather have a semi-jacketed hollow point 158 gr. to maybe get some expansion, but it also sounds like your lead is soft enough that you'll get expansion if you hit bone.

Let us know how she goes.

Tomorrow I will try some xtp's over 2400. Trimming all brass to the same length which might aid in accuracy. John
I’ve started doing it to all my revolver brass, if nothing else the crips will all be uniform. As for you powder it’s a good choice I use it for a lot of things. Just loaded some 177gn cast over some in 308 to test.

Use 14.5 gr of 2400 and you shouldn't have the accuracy problems you were getting with not spinning them fast enough.
That is a known accuracy load for that powder.
For lead in the 150-170gr. range, yes, that is typically a very good load. I tried it with 180gr Keith-style Linotype bullets in a Marlin back in the 80’s and got really bad accuracy. Dropping down a full grain cleaned it up. Just a cautionary note that there will be a tipping point for each gun/load combo.
