Does anyone else's gun dreams revolve not around stuck triggers but around buying new guns? I'm such a materialistic @#$@#, I keep dreaming about buying new toys.

Earlier this month I had a dream I got a blued new rollmark Colt 1991. When I popped out the magazine, it was a 5-rounder :barf: Weird dream.

Last night, I dreamt I got another M1A :barf: and thought 'gee maybe if I slapped an Aimpoint on it, I'll like it better

I've never had a 'new gun' dream but I do have this one where we're driving along in some big huge box truck or something (think the largest U-Haul) and I hit a patch of black ice. We start spinning extremely quickly doing 360s down the highway but don't hit anything. Everyone around is completely stopped and watching us spin. We finally come to a stop, my heart is pounding but everyone else in the truck is calm (by the way, it's always me, my wife, three kids and another adult in the front of the truck) and we start to head off. Then a police officer comes up to make sure we're all OK. When I go to hand him my license, he sees my CCW permit, and just as he asks about it, my gun falls out of my of the holster.

:uhoh:

Most of my gun dreams work like this:

I tuck a 1911 into a holster, carry on with whatever in my dream.

Suddenly, it's Berlin, 1939. When the Nazis find me, my trusty .45 has been magically transformed into a rusty Raven Arms .25. :what:

I have had dreams like you describe. I had a dream that I got a new FN Hi Power in NP3. I was playing around with it like I always do and found out that it took 8-round single stack 1911 magazines. :scrutiny:  Don't worry, you're not the only materialistic one.

FWIW, I haven't had the "stuck trigger" dream since I got a gun. I think it was owning all of those toy/airsoft/pellet guns that disturbed me.

 Gun dreams...

I had a really weird one last night.

I was some dude guarding a room with some important people in it. I was armed with a trusty Sig226. I'm kneeling down in front of the door and a bad guy comes around the corner. I draw my sidearm, aim, and pull the trigger....nothing. I quickly realize the safety is on, calmly disengage it and proceed to take care of the BG.

It took me a while to realize what was wrong with that dream. :D

I had a dream...I dreampt that i didn't have any guns. Oh wait...:fire:

And I had forgotten to cock the hammer on my Glock 21 when...

I used to get dreams all the time where I had to shoot and not only was the trigger pull seemingly 500K pounds, but when the gun did fire, it was a pitiful noise and was about as effective as an airsoft... or the trigger wouldn't move at all.

I haven't had a dream like that since I started shooting regularly again.

Crap, it's a prophecy of a radically expanded assault weapons ban. After all, no one needs more than 5 rounds to hunt deer. All revolvers have plugged cylinders.

I had a gun dream of sorts last night (first one, I think).

Probably inspired by some of the recent discussions with antis, and a VPC article I read recently*, because I was arguing with someone about some really illogical anti-gun theory. Can't remember what the details were.

(I'd also had a dream earlier where I was trying to hide from a Tyrannosaurus, but I don't know if that was in any way connected. Wonder what would be a good gun against one of those?)

In summary:

- Automatic weapons are bad because because they allow you to spray-fire from the hip.

- The civilian versions are no different (appart from not being automatic).

- In fact, this makes them even more dangerous, because you can aim them.

- But automatics are still worst.

- Dangerous guns look scary, so all scary guns are dangerous.

I guess I'm another materialistic one (maybe it's that 9 x 19 birthday?). My gun dreams lean toward my being out with a new (fill in the blank: usually a military-pattern semiauto rifle - Garand, AR, M1A, FAL - but sometimes an auto pistol or revolver). The dream has me shooting it, either at targets or in a SHTF scenario at BGs or enemy soldiers. The new weapon always works - not a great or intended pun; ignore it - "like a dream."

When I bought my first firearm (Glock 17), I used to have dreams where I couldn't hit anything or my hits were all ineffective. After many years of shooting and training, all my hits are good and effective when I have these dreams.
