Ok, I've been trying like crazy to get my High Standard Field King to reliably feed since I got it (about a year ago). The gun came with an after market magazine. The consensus is that this is the problem. I have also tried various types/brands of ammo. The problem with this is that the factory mags seem to be impossible to find. I see plenty of 'hi standard' factory mags on gunbroker, but nobody can ever tell me whether or not the mag will fit my particular gun. That's not the type of thing I'm about to shell out $40 for. I bought a Triple K 'guaranteed to feed and fit'. Well it doesn't really do either. I have to force it in a little bit, and it fed the first 20 rounds, now it won't feed any more. I've sent emails to a bunch of used gun parts dealers hoping to find somebody who can selll me a magazine, but I'm about at my wits end. Pretty soon I think this gun is going to go up for sale 'as is' so I can get something that actually works. Any suggestions as to where I could possibly find a reputable magazine for this gun?

:cuss:

Thanks.

You might want to ask about your magazines here: http://disc.yourwebapps.com/Indices/226190.html or perhaps Mr. John J. Stimson, Jr will see your post here. He is very knowledgeable and helpful with High Standards.

There are links on this page about adjusting some High Standard magazines.

Here is what the original magazine looks like from my 50's era, Lever take down, Sports King (it feeds great):

I have seen these on gunbroker.

That one in the picture appears to be broke!

The big crack right above the button isn't supposed to be there.

A great High Standard forum for information is on

I'm quite sure magazines that fit models 100-101 will fit your Field King.
Field Kings, Sport Kings and Supermatics of that same era all fit each other.

You've got a gem there in that Field King, they are not very common, try not to give up on it.
Those HS of that era were not only hand assembled, but the parts were also hand fitted.;)

Triple K High Standard mags are not all they are cracked up to be. I've been down that same road.:banghead:

The clip that came with it looks exactly like that one, I assumed it was aftermarket because it didn't say 'hi standard' on the bottom of it... perhaps I can try the adjusting tool and see if I have any luck. The image in the PDF of correct/incorrect bullet position should be helpful. Thanks.

I had a year or two ago a Supermatic of the same era that I had to adjust the mag feed lips a little with some needlenose pliers. I had another mag too, to make it look like and it was an original. After some mag tweaking, it ran like a Singer sewing machine.:)

Hope you have some luck.
