accuracy between a marlin 30-30 336c and a mosin nagan 7.62x54r

Some people report great accuracy from some Mosins. I've seen Marlins shoot some really nice groups with the right ammo (LeveRevolution really does shoot well).
Which would I rather have?
What for?
The Mosin carbine is nasty to shoot, but handy enough though a lot heavier than the Marlin. The rifle is a looong gun, not handy at all, but more pleasant to shoot. The Marlin is a handy lever rifle that has stood the test of time and still sells well, new, after it and its antecedents have been produced for over 110 years.
Neither gun would be my choice for a scoped rifle.
All told, I'd take the Marlin with iron sights (maybe Skinners), and neither gun with a scope. But that's because I want a handy hunting rifle.
(If I wanted a scoped long-range bolt gun, it wouldn't be the Mosin.)

Mostly depends on the type of mosin and the quality of ammo in it. With good ammo, finnish mosins can be pretty accurate. (1moa-1.5moa IIRC) I haven't tried anything more than win ammo in my brothers 336, so i don't know about that....

The 7.62x54R is a much more potent round than the 30-30, about like a 308. The 30-30 is quite adequate for deer.
Most Marlin 336's are already drilled & tapped for scope mounts and work well with a scope.
The Mosin would need to be D&T for mounts or the rear sight replaced by a scout type mount for mounting a scope.
As noted, some Mosin's shoot good and some not so good, and that depends on several factors.

As a range gun? I would go mosin for sure. Ammo is dirt cheap and its a blast to shoot, scope or no scope. I feed mine cheap ammo and expect cheap groups. I like it more for blasting stuff than going for groups.
The Marlin 336 I have is much more handy. Mine shoots right at 1" at 100 yards. It is easy to carry in the field and at ranges I see is powerful enough and accurate enough to kill anything I would be hunting.
Overall I like the 336 more. It feels more American than the mosin and that seems fun to me. Something about being a cowboy I guess. The 336 costs a bit more than the mosin I have though so it isn't really a direct comparison dollar for dollar.

I'd probably go with the 30-30. Mainly due to the lighter weight of the rifle, accuracy will probably be better or same as mosin, and there is a better selection of decent hunting ammo.
