Accuracy issues with my AK red dot

So I'm a little bummed out. I just got back from the range after shooting my Arsenal SAM7 with my brand new red dot/black dot PKS-AS (side mounting). All my shots were tight but off about three inches to the right. I messed around with it for hours and no results. I'm thinking its the side mount, or maybe I've got some more practice to do and some bad habits to break.
Can anyone give me some basic shooting advice?
Has anyone had any accuracy trouble using red dots on AK's?
I can't hit the target!

I have an Arsenal SA M-7S, and mine wears a Kobra holographic sight on a side rail mount, but the mount puts it directly over the bore. I had no trouble finding zero with it, and it shoots great. I haven't used the PK-AS, so I can't offer much help there.

The PK sights are notorious for parallax problems. Did your POI shift on you while you were out firing, or were you unable to adjust the sight far enough to achieve a good zero at all?

If your zero is moving around, it's likely parallax/head position. If you can't adjust the sight far enough, you have a problem with your mount or the sight itself. Check that it is mounted tightly to the receiver rail. Here's a pdf manual that may help you out: http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/Manuals/KalinkaOpticsPK-ASManual.pdf

I use a Kobra collimator sight on one of my AK rifles (virtually parallax free) and have had fantastic results. It's no EOtech, but it's the real McKoy. I like em.

This may be what you need:

Windage and Elevation
Range adjustments are easily and quickly
made via a manually operated indexed
ballistic cam. This thumbwheel style range
turret is calibrated in equal 2 MOA
increments which makes it easy to use the
sight with any calibre rifle. Upon initial
installation, coarse adjustments for both
windage and elevation, if needed, can be
easily made via indexed Allen-type
adjusting nuts. The 3.5mm Allen wrench
tool for this is also included in the sight
package.

If you look at the photo next to that paragraph, you'll see how to use the allen wrench to make a coarse windage adjustment. Let me know if this doesn't clear things up.

Practically all Eastern Bloc siderail optics are made to allow for differences in siderail alignment, so you should be OK in that regard.

I have the PK AS

mounted on an AR and AFter playing around, got it zeroed in. I placed it far forward on my gun and have not had parallax problems.... that I have seen
